Jersey Shore Rugby Club to Hold NFL Style Tryouts
Galloway, NJ – The Jersey Shore Rugby Club will be holding an NFL Style combine / tryout Tuesday August 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Veteran’s Park, Galloway, NJ (located on Rt.9, 1 ½ miles south of Seaview Country Club). Jersey Shore Rugby club is searching for serious athletes from all sports to test their fitness and conditioning levels and to try out for the men’s rugby team.
David Klemic, former NFL player with the Kansas City Chiefs and owner of Athletes Arbor Training Center in Linwood, NJ will be conducting the sports combine. Athletes will be tested in the 40 yard dash, shuttle runs, vertical leap, agility and overall endurance and conditioning. The session will be monitored and video-taped. Rugby drills will be introduced to the athletes and the athletes with the highest performance at the combine will be invited to join the men’s rugby club.
Rugby will be making its Olympic debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janerio, Brazil. The Jersey Shore Rugby Sport Combine is designed to introduce the game to new athletes with no rugby experience and to possibly be a gateway to future Olympic tryouts for those athletes with superior abilities who desire to be Olympians.
Spectators are encouraged to attend the rugby combine as it will showcase the area’s premier athletes. There is no charge to participate in the combine or to be a spectator. The Rugby Combine is open to all male athletes age 18 and above.
