Atlantic City Sports Commission to Host Eight Sporting Events Throughout the Month of July
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Thursday, July 1, 2021) The Atlantic City Sports Commission is pleased to welcome eight sporting events taking place at the Atlantic City Convention Center and citywide during the month of July.
Hoop Group Boys Jam Fest taking place July 7-9, will be the first sporting event to return to the Atlantic City Convention Center post-pandemic. More than 250 AAU boys basketball teams with 2,500 athletes, ages 15-17, are expected to compete. Hoop Group Girls Jam Fest will follow July 10-12 with 200 AAU girls basketball teams and 2,000 athletes, ages 12-17. Next, the First Five Live boys and girls basketball tournament will occur July 17-18, showcasing 120 teams and 1,200 athletes, fourth grade to 12th grade. Lastly, Jersey Shore Jam Fest will round out the basketball events July 23-25, showcasing 250 AAU boys basketball teams with 2,500 athletes, ages 15-17. Each tournament will be played on 20-25 sport courts, set up in the Atlantic City Convention Center.
U.S. Futsal National Championship will also be held at the Atlantic City Convention Center July 8-11, celebrating its 35th anniversary. Futsal (Five-a-Side Soccer) is “The Way the World Plays Indoor Soccer” and is the international form of indoor soccer approved by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is played in all continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players.
Newly inducted Pro Football Hall of Fame Coach, Coach Jimmy Johnson is making his way up north to extend his world-class fishing tournament from South Florida to Atlantic City, NJ. Coach Johnson has teamed up with the Atlantic City Sports Commission to add to the series and bring this high stakes and overly entertaining competitive sportfishing experience to Atlantic City. Jimmy Johnson’s Atlantic City ‘Quest for the Ring’ Championship Fishing Week (JJFISHWEEKAC) will take place July 12-17, hosted at the Frank S. Farley State Marina at Golden Nugget Casino, Hotel & Marina with offsite events throughout the destination. Follow along at jjfishweek.catchstat.com or on social @jjfishweekac.
In addition, AVP Beach Week will take place July 19-25, and Jersey Jumps Beach Vault will be held July 24-25 on the Atlantic City beaches.
Atlantic City expects to welcome more than 30,000 athletes, spectators, and families for the eight events. Local Atlantic City businesses will be positively impacted by the activity throughout the destination, as the estimated economic impact will reach over $13 million. In addition, more than 11,000 hotel rooms have been contracted for these events.
